Vs Nazeing Common
Mi. Freeman - Took time to get going as usual, but exploded with a couple of lovely 6's. The straight one in particular was a pleasure for the crowd. Unlucky not to notch another half ton.
King - Not as assured with the bat this week, but fielded immaculately and took a stunning catch.
Ebbs - The great Brian Clough always used to say that a brilliant team had to have a brilliant keeper. Cloughie had Shilton and although Rosaneri are far from brilliant, this week we had Arthur behind the stumps. A snooker referee would have struggled to handle the ball in a smoother fashion.
Alfieri - This was Tony's seasonal debut and the batting didn't look too rusty. The fielding was as good as ever, and held a nice catch.
Patel - Played under the cloud of a heavy cold and his batting certainly looked like it needed a trip to the doctors compared to normal standards. However, the bowling was on song and he very nearly bowled us back into the contest.
S. Shewring - Secured the Duck Race trophy with an uninspired innings, but bowled well to snaffle a wicket.
Downing - Batted calmly while others sank around him, and then went on to rebuild the Rosaneri innings single handedly to post a defendable total.
Ma. Freeman - The batting this week was more of a disaster than sales figures of The Sun in Liverpool. Tried hard with the ball though, but it just wouldn't happen.
S. Underwood - Kept it tight throughout an 8 over stint, but although he created chances the ball just wouldn't fall to a fielder.
J. Shewring - Put in a great shift as Jim's runner and then went onto bowl brilliantly. Really unlucky not to get a bag full of wickets.
M. Cox - Mark's performance was just like a weird episode from the Littlest Hobo. He rocked up during tea, played a starring role while bowling and fielding and then wandered off while the rest of the team were waiting to congratulate him in the dressing room !
