Vs Nazeing Common

This was another great game played in great spirit in a lovely setting. The only thing missing from the perfect ending to the season was the win !

However, before going any further we must congratulate the Nazeing Common captain for his excellent sportsmanship by allowing us to bat on for a tenth wicket even though at that time we only had ten players. This gesture allowed a really good game to develop, rather than everyone going home early with RCC potentially being dismissed for 85.

The Rosaneri batting never looked assured on a damp track, but Mike made the best of it and even managed two magnificent 6's. For all Mike's industry though, nobody really got in with him and it was left to Jim at the end to dig out vital runs to make a game of it.

Jim did just that with some calculated shots, and with Jack pushing him hard for every run somehow got the score up to 144.

At tea both teams fancied their chances.

Nazeing started slowly, but never really gave the pinks a sniff of a wicket. After 10 overs Nazeing only had 18 runs, but crucially they had not lost any wickets.

The game then gradually took shape until the home side needed 5.5 an over for the last 8 with plenty of wickets in hand.

Rosaneri gradually increased the wicket count, but the runs kept flowing until a six towards the end of the penultimate over wrapped up a home win.

Nazeing won the game, but they also won applause from Rosaneri for their excellent approach to the game of cricket.
