Vs Edmonton

The annual Edmonton fixture is always a tough assignment, but this year it was the toughest yet.

Edmonton had two regular first teamers who play in the same league as Tills, one of whom also happened to be billed as the "Best batsman in the club !" The rest of the team made up of senior pros and mad keen talented kids.

This did not daunt the Rosaneri players assembled and they set off with very controlled bowling to keep the run rate around 3 per over for the first 20 overs. The run rate was under control, but the wickets at the 20 over point registered zero.

Steve and Coxy in particular were the pick of the bowling.

Nick made the initial breakthrough thanks to a good catch from debutant Dean, and Mat came back for a second spell to snaffle two big wickets.

The Pinks did spill a few catches again though which gave the home side the momentum they needed to accelerate and push the score over 200.

The Rosaneri reply got off to a dreadful start with Mike and Bell both falling early on. Others also perished and Rosaneri were looking dead at 45 for 5.

Eventually though the crowd got what they wanted and The Fonz and Darren came together. Runs soon followed and gradually the score board started to move in Rosaneri's direction.

Both looked fluid and when they both entered the forties the traveling fans started to believe.

Disaster struck though when The Fonz played all round a straight full toss to be given lbw.

Darren and Jim looked good as well though and the run rate never got out of hand. Darren holed out though to mid wicket, but Mat had no intentions of waiving any white flags.

The scoreboard moved on again until Jim and Mat only needed 5 an over for 7 overs to win the game.

It wasn't to be though as Jim fell to the opening bowling and Cuz perished before the over was out.

A great effort, but probably a game that we should have won after getting so close.
