Vs Chesterfords

This day was the reason that Rosaneri Cricket Club was invented.

We had 11 chaps enjoying great banter and playing sport together in a challenging match situation. If we had of lost it actually wouldn't have mattered, but through playing as a team we pulled off a famous victory.

Marcus must take much credit for his leadership role in not only the playing side of things, but by also leading the banter charge.

Front the start the vibe was good and the pinks really put a shift in on the field in scorching sun to limit runs and take wickets in equal measure. Coxy as usual was outstanding, but poor old Mike and Cuz didn't fare too well in the blistering heat.

All the bowlers chipped in with wickets, but Nick needs to take the main plaudits here for an excellent spell at the end that was the old Nick back in form. His end figures were very good, but he should have even better ones with the chances that he generated. He also deserved a wicket to add to his numbers for a magnificent slide rule pass run out that David Beckham would have been proud of.

Limiting the home team to 197 was an excellent achievement on a pitch that offered plenty of reward to the batsmen.

The interlude for tea should have been a calming period in preparation for batting, but it turned into a sketch from Monty Python. Upon return to our dressing room we were greeted with a naked OAP standing in amongst our kit bags. Incredibly we all sat down as if nothing was wrong and politely waited for Captain Marcus to deliver his half time message.

Eventually the stand off was broken when fits of laughter broke out, with Jim nearly tearing stomach muscles with the intensity of the situation.

Mike had over heated in the field and needed to drop down the order to enable recovery, so Slaps and Mr Bell had to get the reply going.

They did a great job until Mr Bell got a wonder ball that turned 4 feet. But Slaps continued the good work and others chipped in well to set things up nicely for the late middle order to have a go for victory.

Darren, as now expected, came in to steady the ship and systematically plot the required chase.

Cuz played a lovely cameo with his big hitting, while Darren went about his usual stroke making. Nick launched a brief cameo, and then Jim came to the wicket to finish the job with the imperious Darren at his best.

In the end the chase was comfortably achieved with every member of the team contributing.

A great win, but most importantly a great day. Well done to all who played.
