vs The Cotswolds

Mi. Freeman – Took ‘The Animal’ apart in the early exchanges before ‘The Animal’ returned to gain his revenge by having BM caught on the deep point boundary going for another six but not before recording his second best score for the Club.  Pulled off one amazing diving stop in the field.

G. Tyrrell – Set the foundations of the run chase with Big Mike in an opening stand of 70 off of only 14 overs before playing around a straight one from ‘The Ringer’.

I. Cully – Kept wicket brilliantly and took two good catches to remove the ‘Animal’ and his brother.  Unfortunately was kept quiet by ‘The Ringer’ when he first came in and never got going with the bat.

S. Leigh – Attacked from the start with his field placing’s and they nearly came off with 4 chances going through the slip/point area.  A good cameo with the bat was cut short by holing out going for it off of the leg spinner.

G. Sparrey – Fielded immaculately as always and batted really well by pushing the singles, turning one’s into two’s and then finding the boundaries to get the innings back on track.  Fell to a great caught and bowled by ‘the Animal’.

D. Patel – What can you say about Darren apart from he is a class cricketer.  The bowling was exceptional in taking four wickets and the batting was as smooth as silk before that man ‘The Animal’ took a blinding diving catch on the boundary to dismiss him.

Ni. Shewring – The bowling started and ended really well but just one over in the middle spoiled the spell.  The batting was pure Nick; play yourself in for a ball, smack a huge four (which brought a huge cheer from the watching hordes) and then get bowled by the full pitched delivery.

J. Downing – Bowled in the right areas but took a bit of tap from the well set batsman.  Came back well though to dismiss Berry with a great caught and bowled with the first ball of his second spell. The batting heroics never unfolded and was caught going for a big shot.

Ma. Freeman – Bowled a tidy five over opening burst and never got to come back due to the innings being wrapped up early.  The cameo with the bat was pure theatre as Berry was struck for two fours and a six before being caught next ball deep on the boundary going for another big shot.

P. Sindrey – Bowled brilliantly without any luck and on another day would have taken a five for.  Took a stunning diving catch to show us all how it is done.  Went for it with the bat but the 13 needed off of the last 4 balls from ‘The Ringer’ was a bridge too far and was bowled by a classic Yorker.

S. Underwood – Bowled beautifully to snaffle two good wickets including ‘The Animal’.  Also took a top catch but dropped an easier one early in the innings and who knows how the game would have panned out if it had been taken.  The now customary not out followed after only facing one ball.
