Vs Eastons

Chaos is the only way to describe the pre match build as Rosaneri had more ins and outs than a pub dart board on a Saturday night !

Eventually we only had a shameful 9 ready to take on the might of Eastons. However, the 9 we did have were up for it and ready to give their best.

The hosts very kindly had a ring round to loan us Scholesy and 12 year old son Oscar.

After all the messing about in getting a team we could have been forgiven for not focussing on the game, but the bowling literally couldn't have been better.

Mat and Jack ripped through the top order and Marcus and Jim then came on to offer a few runs to the home side, but 3 more quick wickets soon fell to leave Eastons at 39 for 7 !

At this point i honestly doubted they would make 50. So for the sake of politeness the foot was taken even further off the gas and the home batsmen eventually found some form.

But cricket being cricket, we brought on our best bowler in the shape of debutant Darren and the batsmen literally couldn't get a bat on the ball, but they survived to get more than was ideal.

Eventually Mat returned to the action to end proceedings and leave the pinks requiring 125.

A splendid tea was enjoyed by all and a relaxed set of batsmen dared to dream of victory.

The top 4 all did very well, but nobody went on to make a big score, and then the mother of all collapses fell around poor old Scholesy to leave Rosaneri somehow politely handing victory to a team who had been on their knees.

On another day Rosaneri's tail end 5 could have easily have been the top 5 batsmen in the shape of Jack, Darren, Jim, Sinders and Mat. But on this occasion they all perished for a total of 10 !!

Nevertheless, this was a great day out and another 10 wickets for the bowling unit. (40 wickets in 4 games this season.)

Batting top marks go to Charlie and Arthur who both batted patiently and particularly well together until a total running mix up ended the match winning looking partnership.

Well done to all that played and role on next week when Rosaneri will be housing the homeless, feeding the poor and handing out more politeness on a cricket field !!
