Match funding secured

It seems like an age ago that we held our annual family fun day event, and those of you played or watched will remember what a let-down the cricket was, with Enfield's highly drilled clones bowling a consistent line and length, and continually sledging as if to earn parse from the 1st XI league boys.

So intent were they on winning, the prize draw passed them by unnoticed as they practiced slip catches, were put through precision training exercises and had a pre-fielding mental toughness talk.

It was, however, another great day and although down on previous years, the raffle, donation and drinks machine still raised £296. Thanks must go (and has gone) to the hierarchy at Enfield for continuing to make us so welcome year on year.

What we could never have anticipated is that Enfield had a Autism fund raiser just the week before, and this clearly impacted on funds taken by ourselves.

I have today received confirmation that the funds will again be matched by Lloyds TSB foundation, meaning that the day raised £592, with our 4 year total now topping £2,900.

Many thanks to everyone who painted faces, sold tickets, folded tickets, donated prizes, provided drinks machines, arranged a bouncy castle and helped out on the day - and to Cuz, who selflessly sat and personally looked after his pint of beer for the whole day
