Vs The Cotswolds

Two well matched teams slugged it out over 80 overs in a great advert for sportsmanship and cricket in general.

The spoils went to the boys from the Cotswolds, but their victory was thoroughly deserved.

The man of the match without doubt was The Animal who smashed 96 with the bat and then produced fast and fiery rockets while bowling. Truly a captains delight.

Things started well for the pinks with a couple of early wickets, but The Animal soon put a stop to any premature thoughts of victory. Nick took the full brunt of The Animals no nonsense approach as he bludgeoned 25 from one over.

A period of bullying followed on all Rosaneri bowlers as both batsmen tucked into a run feast.

Eventually Cuz changed the tide of Cotswolds domination by making both batsmen look hesitant and then prizing the big wicket of The Animal.

Jim came on at the other end and all of a sudden the Pinks were picking up wickets for fun. A massive tail end collapse saw the visitors lose 7 wickets for only 35 runs.

251 had been posted, which meant that Rosaneri required over 6 an over from the start.

Ian and Mike never looked like losing their wickets early on, but the runs just wouldn't flow in the face of accurate bowling and top fielding.

The solid foundations meant that Rosaneri took drinks after 20 overs at 80 for 0.

10 wickets left in the hutch gave Rosaneri a chance, but it meant that those coming in as wickets eventually started to fall had no time play themselves in or build an innings. Shell and Nick were obvious victims of gallantly perishing for the cause.

However, the Rosaneri batsmen had a real go and as he did last week Kurt lit the touch paper. Cuz continued the attack with others coming and going, but Ian's departure really hurt as he had just hit top form by lifting Jim Sandford for a perfect straight six.

Jack offered late hope with 3 powerful 4's in 3 balls off the maestro Sandford. But alas, it was not to be.

Well done to the Cotswolds boys, and I think it is fair to say that we are all looking forward to next year already.
