The rain didn't stop us, the riot didn't stop us, but Edmonton did !
Edmonton got off to a good start with the bat as the pinks had an odd looking bowling attack and only 10 on the field for the first hour and a half. However after a rain break and a reduction in the game time Jim eventually made the breakthrough thanks to a handy bit of glove work from Kurt.
Nick was hugely unlucky as the ball was flying in the air but not to hands, but he did take a valued 2nd wicket to keep Rosaneri in the match.
Mat then made his arrival after a long drive to snaffle the prize wicket of Mickey Billson with a little help from Adam's safest hands.
Marcus bowled a nice little spell and Jack came back with a good couple of overs to close the Edmonton innings at 202 from their 35 overs.
The Rosaneri innings started in a very steady fashion with neither batsman appearing troubled by the bowling. However, the electronic scoreboard looked like the power supply had been cut as the runs column stood still. 10 for 0, from 7 overs was a steady enough foundation, but it took the arrival of Kurt to really get things going.
Kurt didn't spend much time at the crease, but he took risks and seemed to inspire Mike. Kurt disappeared, but Mike really came to life and with Adam formed a partnership that got the run chase back on track.
Adam was in sensational form and played superb shots at will. Unfortunately Mike ran out of petrol, but while Adam remained there was genuine hope.
In the end though Adam holed out and the last few overs were always going to be a struggle requiring 10+ for each one with fresh batsmen.
10 runs short was the final deficit, and this will be a game where Rosaneri fans will certainly be asking “What if.........”.
