v Enfield

A. Underwood - Captained well under tough circumstances. Managed to give everybody a good game despite only having 35 overs to share out. Tidy behind the stumps and did his bit with the bat by seeing off overs at a vital stage of the innings and steered the team to a well earned draw.

G. Tyrrell - Put to bed the fielding nightmare of last week with a sharp close range catch taken from a full drive. Batted well against a good attack and look settled until he just lifted a clipped square leg shot high enough for Slaps to snaffle. Highlights of the innings were a couple of lovely cover drives for four and a huge hoik for six.

Mi. Freeman - A relatively quiet game for Mike this week. Dealt with anything that came his way in the field but an uncustomary error with the bat from a full delivery cost him his wicket before he was able to get into his stride.

Ma. Freeman - Bowled well against classy batsmen and deserved a wicket but they were in short supply this week! Came to the crease at a pivotal time to safely guide the pinks home for the draw. Batted with his usual steely resolve and kept his focus and composure while under pressure from the oppo to take on some tempting deliveries. The "not-out" king never looked in trouble and is definitely the man you want at the crease to block a game out!

T. Atkins - Surprise late addition to the team and a very welcome one to all those who know him of old. Looked the part in his baggy blue cap and backed up the professional image with some sharp fielding and rolled back the years with a nice batting cameo. A great personality to have on the pitch and hopefully not the last we've seen of him in the Rosaneri line-up.

Ni. Shewring - Was asked to open the bowling against a strong batting side in a surprise leap of faith from Andy and delivered a decent opening spell with the return of an early wicket. Came to the batting crease at No. 10 with 4 overs remaining and although not his natural game somehow managed to keep the wolf from the door under scrutiny from a sharp spinner and a close field.

M. Rose - Faultless in the field. Has a good batting history on this ground and looked set to turn on the style again after troubling the traffic with a big six into the road. Unfortunately that was his only scoring shot!

S. Leigh - Saw plenty of action in the field and dealt with everything well. Started promisingly with the bat but the fundraising activity at tea was probably not the best preparation for a big innings and he left the crease frustrated. However, played his part by taking up some valuable time at the crease. Offered his services as a bowler but was somewhat harshly overlooked bearing in mind his bowling statistics.

M. Cox - Imperious in the field as usual the highlights being a superb one handed diving stop in slip (shame it bounced!) and a spectacular caught and bowled effort from a Slaps bullet drive. Batted with grit and determination at a time when it was vital to stem the flow of wickets rather than score runs and he did just that with a stubborn stint at the crease.

R. Hore - Bowled another tidy spell with top class batsmen at the crease and on any other day would probably have taken multiple wickets. A class act with the bat as usual - another who played a vital part in putting up the brick wall.

J. Mitchell - Had not bowled for some time and went through the pain barrier to deliver an epic spell in searing heat. Forced a wicket on a day when they were in short supply and considering the lack of match practice showed little sign of rustiness with a solid show of pace and accuracy.
