Gentleman article
Following a deluge of emails from senior club players, i must stand corrected over a small detail of the "Play like a gentleman" article.
The section that concerned Applauding a batsman to the wicket is really only suited to very young schoolboy cricket. In reality at our level of cricket we should only really be applauding batsman that have actually done something. i.e Scored 50, or batted well for a good score in the context of the match.
In fact, while on the subject of applause, it should also be noted that good shots can equally be applauded. Not every shot that races for 4 or 6, but those technical shots that are worthy will stand out and applause should follow.
