Vs St Margaretsbury

For the second week running Rosaneri have got themselves involved in brilliant games of cricket and unfortunately ended up as losers on both occasions.

The St Margaretsbury redemption started well with Cuz and Stephen bowling tight lines and squeezing pressure on the opening pair. That pressure eventually told with Kurt snaffling a delicate nick off Stephen.

Stephen went on to take another wicket in identical fashion and recorded brilliant figures for any level of opening bowler.

Nick and Rahul then took over as the second pair on the bowling front and at the 20 over mark the pinks were well on top. Rahul kept it extremely tight and Nick created chances at the other end to secure wickets.

Jim and Jack then got to work for the concluding overs and Jack simply ripped through the tail with an aggressive 4 fer.

170 for victory was always going to be a fair contest and things started well for the Rosaneri reply as Mike and Arthur put early runs on the board in comfortable looking fashion.

However, a mini collapse soon put an end to thoughts of an easy victory and at 28 for 4 Rosaneri were up against it and in need of a total regrouping.

That regrouping came with a period of stability from Kurt and Jim. The runs did not flow, but the wickets certainly stopped falling.

Kurt eventually departed, but good foundations had been put in place for an assault on the run chase. Nick played a nice little cameo, but Cuz formed a great partnership with Jim and the runs steadily started to accumulate.

Things looked to be totally under control, but disaster struck as Cuz was stumped with victory in sight.

Things then started to get awfully tense and runs dried up.

Rahul's lbw was a sickening blow and poor old Stephen was thrown into the lions den with only 3 runs required for victory.

Jim made the disastrous decision of running a bye off the last ball of the penultimate over to leave Stephen on strike to the wily old spinner.

Mr Bell had no option but to raise his finger to end the game when Stephen was pinned in front of middle.

Another great effort, but again Rosaneri throw away a winning position.
