Vs Lindsell

A trip to Lindsell is always a tough examination and usually a defeat, so who could have possibly thought that Rosaneri could pull off a famous victory in the fashion that they did.

Lindsell were weaker than normal, but still had more than enough to start as favourites.

However, the toss was vital on a pitch that was drying out by the minute in front of our eyes, and luckily Rosaneri called correctly and asked the home team to have a bat.

Gareth set a super tone from the off and those close to the wicket were oooing and cooing in the very first over. However, it was Cuz who did all the damage from the other end.

Cuz was in tremendous form and cleverly secured his best figures for the club.

Mat added a wicket during the first change of bowling and Lindsell were on their knees at 37 for 5.

Captain Underwood reacted well to the situation and started to share the bowling about sensing multiple fresh air games as a real possibility.

Jim reverted to off spin and bowled very well on a helpful pitch to spin to add two more, and the debutant Martin started superbly with a wicket in his first over and a tidy spell to follow.

Bloater also bowled very well and tidied things up with Lindsell making exactly 100.

It is also worth noting that Big Mike secured a new club record of 4 catches in one innings, one of which was so good that it must go straight into the RCC Hall of fame for diving catches.

A lovely tea in beautiful sunshine was spoilt by the fact that we had to go out and win the game !

Mr Bell lost patience after the 4th ball of the innings and paid the price by being caught off a skier, but Sir Geoffrey at the other end certainly didn't lose his patience. But we will come back to that later.

Kurt aggressively went about his business and smashed a couple of lovely 4's in the process of top scoring.

Coxy came in on a hat trick, with the pressure cranked up to max, but in Peter Kay 'No Nonsense' style he smashed a good looking delivery for 4 ! He then went on to add vital runs to the total before a rash shot secured his demise.

Then a period of good bowling and sleep for the scoreboard operator saw Rosaneri in slight danger of actually blowing it. Big Mike was at the centre of this go slow and pressure was gradually building as he faced his 32nd ball without scoring ! Unluckily for Lindsell they got him out ! And with that wicket went their best chance of a draw.

Rahul livened things up with a quickfire 17 and Mat finished the job with an assured 15 not out.

This was a good win, and a perfect start to this run of three games that has been dubbed Amen Corner. Can the good work continue next week against Buckhurst Hill ?
