Vs Datchworth

Datchworth was as expected a delightful addition to the fixture list and I just hope we did enough with an understrength team to get invited back.

The home team won the toss and elected to bat. It soon became apparent that the quick outfield would keep the scoreboard moving, but a couple of early wickets did keep the pinks in the game.

However a fine century from a Datchworth class act put Rosaneri firmly under the gun. But how different could things have been if Cuz had of held a rather sharp chance early on in his innings. (It was a very hard chance though.)

The Rosaneri bowlers did well in patches, but too many bad balls were offered up for competent batsmen who simply dispatched them.

The tea time total did look big, but Kurt came to the crease on a mission and played his finest innings for the club to accelerate the run rate and actually put us in front of the required rate before his departure for a super 42.

Mike supported magnificently well at the other end and some of the travelling support actually started to believe that they were going to witness something special.

Losing Mr Bell though for zero though was a massive blow.

The game was still live when Jim came to the wicket and he started well against some inaccurate bowling, but the dreams were further shattered when he ran on Robsie's suicidal call to see the stumps knocked over fully 5 yards from his ground.

Gareth came in for a typical cameo of mighty blows, but the support ran out and inevitable defeat soon followed.

Well done to all though who dug in and gave it a good shot in the field and with the bat, but it was a bridge too far on this occasion.
