After winning the toss Rosaneri invited the hosts to have a bat and things started very brightly for the travelling fans.
Runs were flowing, but the wicket tally kept on rising and at the 19 over point Rosaneri were well on top with the hosts struggling at 89 for 5. The Shewring boys were doing the damage, but the arrival of the 5th wicket brought to the crease a hired gun who changed the destiny of the spoils.
A professionally brutal attack on the polite Rosaneri bowling followed that left the Corinthian spirit in tatters, along with the dreams of a tight game.
Big Mike eventually made the breakthrough with a great cameo spell that signalled the start of a semi fightback. However, Andrew Collier then took centre stage and chalked up boundary after boundary to rattle the score along to 249 at the end of the 40th over.
Even though a high total was conceded, it is worth noting that the Rosaneri overall fielding was very good. With Coxy, Robsie and Marcus particularly worth top marks.
The Rosaneri batsmen knew that the task was tough and set off with the necessary gusto when Mr Bell smashed the first ball for four. Mr Bell and Bloater went along at a nice clip before the big man was caught at mid wicket.
Bloater got his head down and played the Big Mike anchor role with a controlled half century.
Most Rosaneri batsmen got in, but the increasing run rate forced rash shots that saw steady wickets tumble.
The innings of the day though for the pinks came from Marcus who with a measured approach smashed 40 off only 9 overs. In the end though the massive run rate proved too much even for Marcus who perished with two overs to go.
In the end, this was a sound beating, and in truth we were simply at the mercy of The Cotswolds captain in terms of just how close he wanted us the get.
Rosaneri can stand proud though in defeat and hopefully look forward to a more evenly matched contest back at Lincoln Road.
