Vs Tendring

Mi. Freeman – Is undoubtedly in the form of his life with the bat, but got undone this week with a superb piece of calculated fast bowling. Mike had smashed two slightly wide long hops for pulsating fours just before the beauty that got him out.

Jones – Felt his way back gently to start with, but soon got going to top score with a very valuable 34.

Rose – Got his head down and did the graft, but just as he was starting to see the ball well a disastrous shot undone the good work. Took a nice catch in the deep very comfortably and bowled well when called upon by the skipper.

A. Underwood – Officially started the 2011 Duck Race competition, but certainly warranted a favourable mention here with some excellent ground fielding and a brilliant catch way in the deep.

Akyuz – Spent a long time at the crease and steadily accumulated 20 needed runs for the total. Then kept wicket to a very high standard that included a minimal number of byes and a great catch off a pumped Mat Freeman.

McHugh – Didn't get going with the bat, but fielded immaculately and provided his captain with two wickets when given the instruction to “Get us a wicket”.

Downing – Looked comfortable with the bat until a rash shot dismissed him as the run rate pressure was building. Bowled much better than his bare figures suggest as 12 of those runs came from perfect wind assisted straight sixes off middle stump from a top batsman.

Shuttlewood – Captained the team to very good effect and was massively fair in all his decisions. John's stint with the bat was also very good and you wouldn't have thought that he hadn't batted for a long time prior to this.

Ma. Freeman – Batting at the top of his form at the moment and is magnificently reliable. This game was no exception and Mat added yet more valuable late runs to the cause. However, this week Mat needs all the praise for his unbelievable bowling. 3 for 9 in 8 overs was a magnificent return and couldn't have been better in the context of the match when runs were tight and wickets were needed.

Ni. Shewring – Had an early let off when batting with a dropped catch and took advantage well by not giving any more chances and adding 15 to the total. Bowled nicely without the reward of the amount of chances that he generated. With a touch of luck he could have 4 or 5 to win us the match.

G. Cox – Bounded in with his usual vigour while bowling, but it was just one of the days when the effort was not rewarded.
