Lack of runs leads to defeat

Captain Shuttlewood won the toss and confidently elected to bat.

The Captains confidence looked well placed after the first over when Mike had creamed two glorious square cuts to the boundary. Adam continued the good work at the other end and after only 2 overs Rosaneri had put a good total on the board.

Unfortunately Big Mike was then undone by a champion piece of fast bowling that tucked him up to force an easy catch at cover off of the glove. This was a big blow as Mike has been in sensational touch this season and in truth we never really recovered.

Adam bravely went about his business and returned a very good 34. Others came and went, but Kurt proved to be the rock and steadily compiled a very useful 20 as the hosts took the pace off the ball and made boundaries very hard to come by.

The Rosaneri batting for 2011 fell to its usual pattern with Mat coming to the rescue late on to add vital runs to the total. Nick helped Mat out and between them they added a solid 30 odd that gave us something to bowl at.

The bowling couldn't have started any better with Mat forcing the opener to edge one behind first ball then clean bowling another in the second over of play. At this point the pinks were massively on top, but a hugely frustrating partnership developed that added 71 for the Tendring to put the match position well back in their favour. The chances were being created, but they were just not being taken.

Eventually Bonehead made the breakthrough and then followed up with another to give renewed hope to Rosaneri. Nick claimed another, before Mat completed a brilliant 3 fer.

However, that was it on the wicket front and a neat partnership finished the game off for the home team.

Another good effort, but the lack of runs hit us hard again. This really is something we do need to work on over the next couple of weeks.
