Vs Botany Bay
Tyrrell - Looked ready for a big innings but was well caught by the oppo skipper at the second attempt. Still managed to delight the crowd though with the Bell Shuffle after taking his wicket when bowling. Mi. Freeman - Looked in the rudest of form and demonstrated the cut shot direct from the textbook in the opening exchanges. However, the run rate pressure may have contributed to an unlikely Mike dismissel. Akyuz - Batted with purpose and had a fine game behind the stumps. Involved in 3 wickets and goes top of the Golden Fielder chart. A. Underwood - Wielded the willow well, but so often picked out the fielder and didn't get the rewards that he deserved. Bowled a funny old spell that combined dross with excellence. Rose - Tried to construct an old fashioned innings that started safely and then gradually attacked from a firm base, but the plan was derailed before the runs started to accumulate. Grabbed a cheeky wicket with some fine controlled swing bowling. Coxy - Batted with grit and determination to really kick start the Rosaneri fightback. The fielding was also of the highest standard. Downing - Looked set for a big innings until the umpire cut his day short. Bowled a good line and length for a nice one fer. Ni. Shewring - Bowled his full menu, but non shot playing batsmen are not normally Nick's thing ! Still managed to snaffle a sharp caught and bowled though. Ma. Freeman - Provided late innings stability and ground out valuable additions to the scoreboard. Notched another victim with the ball late on. Pouched the oppo skipper with a fine catch, that may have been more crucial to the result than first realised. G. Cox - Smashed quick runs as the overs were running out and then bowled a very controlled exhibition of line and length specials. Another who picked up a one fer. S. Shewring - Brilliant late runs in a fearless demonstartion of batting and rounded off a good day with two early wickets to more or less put the game to bed.
