Cuz and the one fers

Botany Bay has become a favourite ground for the pinks over the years both in terms of the wonderful setting, but also in terms of the results.

This year proved to be no exception to either with the surroundings looking better than ever and Rosaneri running out comfortable winners.

However, the win was not plain sailing from the start as the home sides bowling attack was lively, accurate and kept the lid firmly on the run rate. The pressure gradually built and at the 20 over point the pinks had only mustered 50 runs and lost 5 wickets.

Rosaneri buckled down though and really pulled out extra as the runs gradually started to flow. Mark Cox played a particularly gritty innings that really helped to turn the tide. He was supported by the rest of the tail and eventually a respectable 146 was posted.

At tea the game appeared to be firmly in the balance, but once the first few overs had been bowled it soon became apparent that Rosaneri were massively in control.

Cuz snaffled an early brace and the rest of the Rosaneri bowlers all chipped in with good spells and most ended up with one fers.

There was also a great run out as the home team just made 100 before the lights of their innings were turned out.

The batting was pleasing as it turned out to be a real team effort to compile a total that put us in the game. The fielding this week was also good and of course it is nice to get the first win of the season on the board.
