Vs Edmonton

Tyrrell – Started the innings in his typically positive fashion and managed a beautiful straight six before departure. Kept wicket well and picked up a catch and a run out.

Mi. Freeman – First duck of the season after playing the right shot with the wrong execution. Took a nice catch and made good diving saves while fielding.

Alfieri – Back after a long mid summer break and looked like he had never been away with a fluent cameo innings that included two exquisite drives. Top fielding was capped with a crucial run out.

Rose – Has been a batting revelation in the second half of the season and put in another top shift here. Big sixes certainly put him right bang in the Six Race as well. The captaincy was as usual focused and fair.

M. Cox – Sustained an Arm Wrestling injury earlier in the week and was not at his best with bat or in the field ! However, did take a great diving slip catch late on.

Downing – Scratched around a bit with the bat, but did deliver a helpful 32 for the cause. The bowling teacher would have rated Jim’s 5over spell as an A, but for the shocking abundance of wides. B+

Hore – As smart a hundred as you are ever likely to see. Always in control and unfazed by anything that was sent towards his stumps. The straight driving master class at the end was pure class. Well done sir.

S. Shewring – A swift and stylish 48 with the bat and then a super bowling display that put Rosaneri in total control. A very very good all round display.

G. Cox – Bowled well over two spells and snaffled yet another wicket for the season tally, but didn’t get going properly with the bat.

Ni. Shewring – Grabbed a super 4 fer over two spells and had top batsmen in knots with some cunning leg spinning. The Best Average for a Bowler trophy is now looking very likely.

Ma. Freeman – Mat bowled superbly tight lines in the first spell to strangle the run rate, and came back in a second spell to deliver a tremendous hat trick. The phrase “In the zone” is often misused, but for Mat it genuinely does apply. It was literally like watching a machine smashing down the stumps on repeat. Bravo and a place in Rosaneri history.
