A hundred and a hat trick

This was as good as the pinks can get. Everyone had their big game heads on and everyone played their part in a fantastic victory.

Edmonton are always very strong and very fair opponents and Sunday saw no exception to this rule. Their lively opening attack smashed into the Rosaneri top order and with 4 down after only 10 overs a total of 200+ seemed a long way away.

However, Marcus as now has become expected applied himself well to ensure a high run rate and good attacking tempo.

Jim and Rahul then came together with 5 down to steady the ship and rebuild the innings to provide a platform for the last 10 over assault.

After enjoying a few lives, Jim eventually holed out, but the pace had been accelerated and Cuz kept things going with a top innings.

Rahul batted elegantly throughout and upped the tempo with fluent foot movement and raised his bat for a well deserved century in the last over. Cuz was mightily unlucky not to notch another fifty and fell just two runs short.

The last 10 overs yielded 100+ runs to the total which was a superb effort and the pinks posted a big looking 276 at tea.

Edmonton’s innings started steadily, but a mighty mix up and some great fielding from Tony saw the first wicket fall to a run out.

Mat bowled very tightly from the Church Street end and the pressure really started to increase on the home side. The introduction of Nick further increased the pressure and also resulted in two nice wickets.

Cuz and Jim bowled restraining spells and the run rate really started to spiral.

However, with 10 overs left Edmonton were more or less in the same position as Rosaneri needing 10 an over.

But cometh the hour, cometh the Terminator. Bang, bang, bang and a hat trick had been secured to effectively kill the contest.

Nick came back on to tidy up and a great victory had been secured.
