S. Underwood – Played as a batsman only because of a shoulder injury and certainly let everyone know what we have been missing out on. Played some excellent shots on the way to a confident and stylish 48. Just a shame he didn’t get to raise the bat.
J. Shewring – Took two nice catches in the field, but took a first baller while batting.
S. Shewring – Bowled a nice little spell and looked comfortable with the bat until he unluckily got a leading edge when trying to attack a rare bad ball.
A. Underwood – Managed the stumps to good effect and kept the extras to a minimum and although he missed a stumping he was frightfully unlucky with a great one handed catch down the leg side that was given not out. Batted within himself and returned a steady 30 odd to complete a good day.
Ma. Freeman – Only got a couple of overs, but then got the coveted lift up the batting order to compensate. Took a nice catch and initiated a superb run out. The batting was as dependable as ever and as expected he carried the pinks over the winning line.
M. Cox – Bowled well and removed a top batsman to add to his rapidly growing season wickets total. The batting didn’t get going though.
Levett – Snaffled a brace of wickets to return his best ever bowling figures for the club and then confidently added runs as the winning line approached.
R. Hore – A great debut with the ball by sending down very consistent inswingers on a super line and length. There could be much more left in the locker with both bat and ball.
Mi. Freeman – Selflessly played as a captain only and balanced everything as fairly as possible in difficult and rapidly changing circumstances. Well done Big Mike.
Downing – Put in two nice shifts with the ball and generated lots of potential wicket taking chances. Rattled the stumps twice in the second spell to get the reward he deserved.
G. Cox – Finally got back in the wickets after a blank spell and thoroughly deserved to do so as he put the ball in the right places consistently. Also held a nice boundary catch off his brothers bowling.
