The script could have been written weeks ago and as expected this game went exactly as we all expected. The only variable is the result.
Harlow Vets were asked to bat and the much loved Test match feel was well and truly amongst us at only 3 overs into the 2010 contest. The Rosaneri bowling was tight and the Vets run rate was under 1 an over until the 15th over.
Nick was the pick of the bowling with his customary 3 fer in Harlow. Levsy also deserves a mention for bowling very well and taking his first ever wicket. Well done sir.
As usual the pinks tired in the unfamiliar territory of the 40+ overs and the Vets significantly upped the run rate to post a solid looking total of 135 for 8 at tea.
Bell got the reply off to a lightening start by smashing huge boundaries, while Mike looked solid at the end.
A mini collapse did ring alarm bells, but captain Mat effortlessly moved towards the promised land of a maiden half century. His game remained solid, but the target was reached before he had chance to raise the bat aloft.
The game did come down to the last over, but with wickets in hand the result was never really in question.
The series against the Harlow Vets now stands at 2-2.
