At first glance this appeared to be a total mismatch, but we will never actually know how important the first over run out was.
Ok, one man doesn’t make a team. But their skipper who was run out before facing a ball had the cv to make it a very interesting afternoon.
Jack Shewring made his Rosaneri debut and confidently went in at the deep end by volunteering to open the batting. He couldn’t have started any better and with Mike 86 was accumulated for the first wicket.
Unfortunately both openers went within minutes of each other and the run rate plummeted as new batsmen had to find their feet. Pits, Coxy and Kurt all chipped in with runs before Bloater and Sinders pressed the acceleration button.
The run rate quickly rose and Gareth finished the job to give the pinks a very good 220 for 7 in their allocated 40 overs.
Captain Sindrey had a written plan for the innings, but he could not have dreamed of the first over run out of the main danger man thanks to super work from Gareth.
Cuz and Slaps opened the bowling and the opening 10 overs went in a flash for hardly any runs.
Slaps trapped two good technical batsmen at mid on and mid off with superb leg spinning and the game was more or less won.
Everyone more or less got to have a go with the ball, but Marvellous Mark Cox was the one who really grabbed hold of the opportunity and returned stunning figures of 4 for 8.
Mark bowled a super line and length to put the batsmen under pressure. This 4 fer was thoroughly deserved after the hard work he put in at nets on Wednesday.
This game may be viewed as a mismatch, but it should also be noted that Rosaneri performed very well while batting, bowling and fielding.
