As one forum contributor noted, this was literally the game of two halves.
The first half was a tough session in the field where wicket chances were as common as a Pits appearance for the club these days and everyone was visibly drained at drinks.
Gareth made a much needed breakthrough, and then came the wicket that never was which caused even further deflation amongst the ranks.
To our credit as a team we kept plugging away and it wasn’t until more or less the 40th over that we realised that we had done pretty well to limit an excellent batting line up to only just over 200.
Although the first half was dour and gritty the second half came to life as Rosaneri adopted their usual stance of going for the win until the last pair.
The innings got off to a solid start with Mike and Steve blunting the early enthusiasm. Mike just looked like he was about to kick on when he was sent on his way by Umpire Sindrey.
Robsie and Shell shared a brilliant 50+ partnership to lay the foundations of the assault on victory. Robsie eventually went after an hour or so as the pace of the chase started to increase.
Shell played a collection of majestic strokes including a massive straight six to give the traveling fans real hope.
Gareth added a breathtaking 20, but a few quick wickets rocked the ship somewhat.
However, Kurt and Sinders came together and not only steadied the ship but then found the desire to kick on and maintain the required run rate. Alas, both perished within minutes of each other and Rosaneri had a reality check with one wicket in hand.
Mat and Jim though showed great composure and firmly parked the bus to secure a well deserved draw.
