Just short of a famous victory

This was another great team display from the pinks when every member of the team contributed to a great result.

After losing the toss, the pinks were asked to bat on what looked like a very difficult for batsmen.

Mr Bell looked in superb nick and made some magnificent strokes to get Rosaneri off to a flying start. A solid foundation from the openers put Rosaneri in the ascendancy, but regular breaks in play for rain disrupted the middle order from building a big total.

Quick wickets either side of the breaks luckily proved no more than a wobble as Cuz and Kurt got together to put on a brilliant 60+ partnership.

Kurt finally came good with the bat and this was much more like the Kurt who could be relied on at school to weigh in with valuable middle order runs.

Cuz batted magnificently and once his radar was set to attack he literally took the bowlers apart.

More rain saw an early tea and a Rosaneri declaration.

The home response was a 40 odd opening partnership that put North Weald back in the driving seat. The Pinks came storming back though with Jim promptly removing the top 4.

Shell produced a brilliant cameo with the ball to grab two further wickets and both teams still genuinely sensed victory.

Mr Bell plucked a super catch and then Mat came back to bowl a resistant tail ender.

The energy was up to the max, but the home side held on for the final two overs to secure a very fair draw.
