Bonnie Tyler may still be holding out for a hero but Rosaneri CC found a few on Sunday!

Captain Shell won the toss and elected to bat on a good wicket which offered something for both batsmen and bowlers.

Big Mike and debutant Mat Palmer opened the innings against a young but accurate attack.

Mat P. unfortunately fell in the first over to a ball that pitched middle and hit the top of off and that set the tone for the next 10 overs.

Wickets tumbled to the young pacemen as Shell (4), Coxy (1), Levsy (0), Big Mike (21) and the other debutant Dan Asser (1) all went cheaply to leave the Rozzers reeling at 34 for 6!

However, the second half of the innings was a different story.

Rosaneri legends Marcus and GMul smashed quick runs and then our heroes the Terminator and the Bad Boy built a partnership of 35 to take the score passed 100.

Gareth joined the Terminator and hit a brisk 11, after the Bad Boy was unluckily bowled through his legs, and the innings closed at a moderate but defendable 134.

Captain Shell gave a Churchillian speech before the scone and sandwich brigade tucked into tea and the ‘Pinks’ then retook the field full of hope of an unlikely win.

Codicote made a quick start and soon raced to 20 without loss. But then our two heroes gobbled up both openers and our hopes were raised again.

Codicote regrouped and made their way to 76 for 4 and things were getting interesting.

Captain Shell juggled his strike force and all his bowling changes worked as Gareth and then the Legend’s went to work.

Gareth snaffled a nice 3fer and the Legends took 4 wickets and 3 catches between them to send the Codicote batsmen back to the hutch as they were all out for 88 and a famous victory was wrapped up inside 24 overs.

This may not have been a game for the purist but it showed the true sprit of Rosaneri cricket.
