Vs Codicote CC

Mi. Freeman - Batted in usual solid style and should have made a lot more runs before falling to a sharp leg gully catch after scoring 21.  Fielded to usual standard and was always ready with a word of encouragement to others - quite regularly in fact!

M. Palmer - Came in late doors to rescue the Rossa's and ensure we had a full team of 11.  Opened with Big Mike and was unlucky to get out without scoring to the best ball of the innings.  Fielded with real enthusiasm and was probably a bit too eager at times which led to a sharp chance being spilled at silly mid off.

S. Leigh - Only scored 4 with the bat and is yet to make an impact whilst batting this season.  Kept wicket in a very efficient and tidy way, but picked up -a suspected fractured little finger after taking a Matt Freeman leg-side rocket.  Made a real positive impact as skipper with a reassuring dressing-room word at tea and then made no less than 4 tactical bowling changes all of which yielded immediate results.  Did the sporting thing in offering to keep going until all 9 Codicote batsmen had been dismissed - although this was not offered up until the game was in the bag (Codicote started with 10 but then 1 had to leave during their innings) – Guess who wrote this!

M. Cox - Unlucky with the bat, scoring just 1.   Fielded with real energy and was unlucky not to hold a difficult backward diving chance after he had run a good 20/30 yards to give himself half a chance.

L. Levett - Disappointing day with the bat, but fielded with real enthusiasm and even caught the bail when it flew to him at fine leg.  Made some good suggestions to the captain whilst fielding.

D. Asser - Hadn't picked up a bat for 15 years plus, but got off the mark with a nice lofted drive back over the bowlers head.  Departed for just 1, but could have got more.  Fielded well and did all that was asked to keep things tight.

Ma. Freeman - Another of the bowlers who got stuck in.  Finished unbeaten on 26 not out and could have stayed there all day.  A solid defence and some lovely attacking shots were all on display.  Picked up just the one wicket, but could have had more.  Got quicker and quicker as each over went.  Held a super catch in the gully to dismiss their captain for a first ball duck.

M. Rose - Again came out to a mini crisis, and again delivered.  A big 6 was the highlight, but Marcus showed a real knack of knowing which one to hit and which one to leave.  You can tell that Marcus has given his batting some real thought and this is paying off.  One of the skipper’s tactical bowling changes and picked up a wicket with his first ball.  Also took a nice catch to round off a good day for him.

G. Mully - Scored 5 runs including a glorious square drive for 4 off of the first ball he faced.  Took two catches in the field, but the real story was about his bowling.  Bowled 6 overs for 26 runs and picked up two wickets.  A top display from an old Rosaneri favourite.  Legend!

P. Sindrey - Made 25 runs in an aggressive, but well controlled knock.  Looked very solid and was clearly disappointed when out as a bigger score was on the cards.  Put some of the batsmen to shame with his attacking and defensive shots.  Not always text-book, but very effective.  Bowled fast and accurately - only the 4 overs, but picked up a nice wicket and deserved more.  Also held a decent catch in the field.

G. Cox - Looked good with the bat before falling for 11.  Bowled a little sporadically at the start which resulted in the captain giving him the hook after just two overs!  However, showed real character and came back for a much better second spell to finish with 3 wickets.
