Rain spoils a potential classic

The dread of every cricketer settled a nicely poised event against the Walthamstow Horizontals on Sunday.

The home side won the toss and confidently elected to bat and after our early breakthrough their number 3 soon became the apparent reason as to why they had chosen to bat.

The Rosaneri bowlers put in good shifts and in fairness it was only towards tea that the main man really cut lose. Take out his magnificent 140 odd and we were absolutely on top.

Slaps bowled very well but had a good 12 runs added to his figures by some crazily bad fielding that was partly attributable to the sand heavy outfield.

Rosaneri competed very well and in truth went in to tea feeling as though we had let the Horizontals off the hook.

The rain lashed down while we enjoyed a superb tea and that was it for the day.

It would have been very interesting seeing how we would have got on chasing the total as we did have a very strong batting line up. One thing is for sure, we would have given it a real go and only parked the bus for a draw if we were down to our last wicket.
