Mean bowling machine does the job

Rosaneri made it two wins in two matches on Sunday with a relaxed win over Felsted.

Mike needed no second invitation when he saw a greener surface that what Steve Davis is used to playing on to elect to have a bowl. This was obviously the correct decision as soon as Gareth induced a snick to Mr Bell in the first over.

Jimmy Mitchell zoomed in from the other end and within 6 overs the hosts were in tatters at 21 for 5.

The fielding was sharp and all looked good until Felsted got a partnership going and they gradually rebuilt a total that was making a few Rosaneri batsmen twitchy.

The breakthrough eventually came with a run out where the batsman only had himself to blame.

Gareth then came back to finish the job and end up with a magnificent 4 fer.

Mr Bell opened the batting like Matty Hayden in his pomp. Good balls were stoutly defended and the bad balls were smashed to the boundary.

Joe made a solid looking debut for the Pinks some text book cover drives, but fellow debutant Tim Burles was not so assured with an immediate entry into the Duck League. However, Tim did show the true Rosaneri spirit by instantly walking after a feather touch down the leg side.

Bloater looked classy until a magnificent caught and bowled similar to Nick’s brilliant effort against Woodford Wells last year dispatched him back to the hutch.

Rosaneri supporters were soon reassured that a total disaster was not about to ensue when reliable Mike came to the middle and guided the pinks to a comfortable win.

Winning the toss was probably a massive factor in this game as it could have quite easily been us on the ropes if we had been asked to set a total. Who knows ?

It has been a great start to the season and in truth we haven’t yet been really examined under the cosh. Long may this form continue.
