Today we take a closer look at Sheridan Leigh.
Sheridan had a wonderful 2009 by recapturing his form from a previous golden era. 268 runs were accumulated in only 10 innings to record an average of 33.5. There were 2 half centuries and a best of 87 to cap a brilliant season.
The swagger and assuredness was certainly back and every time Sheridan went to the wicket Rosaneri fans expected the game to head rapidly in Rosaneri’s favour. The match winning innings at Dunmow was probably just the highlight ahead of the energy sapping season’s top score at Knebworth.
Shell will obviously be a live contender for the best batting average award for 2010 and this must be his major target. His other major target must be the most 6’s award as Shell has always taken great pleasure from clearing the rope, and now that confidence is at an all time high this could be the season to go for it.
With Nick missing a number of games at the start of the season the 2010 season may also see Shell being used as a regular part time spinning option. Sheridan has never let the skipper down when asked to turn his arm and he does boast an excellent strike rate.
In summary, 2010 promises to be a big year for our elegant number 3.
