Brilliant cricket & great banter

Wednesday night at Hatfield is surely one of the best nights out there can be. Not only did we get to practice the game we all love, but we also enjoyed a night of high intensity banter and belly laughs.

The net session saw some of the best batting of the winter, and in particular Bonehead and Nick found their form at just the right time with the curtain opener on Saturday. Bonehead in particular turned into a testosterone fuelled Twenty/20 explosive opening batsman, and took on everything bowled towards him. At times it was like watching Gilchrist.

The whole evening had an extra flavour with 100 plus Milan fans cheering on their team against Manchester United in the bar area just outside of the cricket hall.

When I got home I was absolutely buzzing, and it got me thinking about what other night out could compare with what we had all just experienced. I came up with the following:

A night out with the chaps eating, drinking and gambling in Monaco with Roman Abramovitch picking up the tab.

A dinner party with Mike Brearley, Viv Richards, and David Gower discussing the finer points of cricket.

A private wine and Jacuzzi party with Girls Aloud.

All of the above three options are very tempting, but nothing can compare to the banter and family feeling of the Wednesday night net session. Although to be fair, if push came to shove, I may just be tempted to take a dip in the Jacuzzi !
