Player notebooks

Mi. Freeman – Gave all elements of the game his full effort, but it was his batting that stood out. Bedded himself in and saw off a hostile opening attack before going on to add vital runs as the pinks strove for some pride.

Alfieri – Fielded well, but got blown away while batting with an edge to slip who made a difficult catch look simple.

Tyrrell – Captained very fairly, but couldn’t have been given a tougher task. Hit a couple of aggressive fours while batting, but was another who was undone by the Essex league bowlers.

A. Underwood – Upheld the spirit of cricket by walking immediately when getting a feather nick to the keeper.

Akyuz – Kept wicket very well yet again and looked unlucky not to get the umpires nod for a good looking stumping off Nick. But when is he going to get a break when batting !

Downing – Bowled well to calm down the run rate and take the valuable wicket of a decent opener with a super quicker ball. Got out to a second string bowler and although he hit the ball hard he hit it in the air.

G. Cox – Bowled a nice opening spell without any luck, but disappointed with the bat when the stage was set for a classic Gareth innings.

Ni. Shewring – Didn’t enjoy an ounce of luck when bowling as the ball went in the air but it just wouldn’t drop to a fielder. Batted with his usual style and followed three good run scoring shots with an out.

Ma. Freeman – Bowled nicely even though the early field settings didn’t do his figures any good. Came to life as now is expected with the bat to smash his way to the innings top scorer, including one of the best straight 4’s you will ever see.

G. Mully – Took a brilliant running catch, bowled a nice spell at the business end of the innings and developed a fan club while batting. Strutted around the crease with purpose and style on his way to an unbeaten 19. The Rosaneri supporters particularly loved the carve of the 1st XI bowler through mid wicket for a one bounce four.

S. Underwood – Claimed a well deserved 3 fer for some very consistent line and length bowling. Also took a smart catch to give the pinks a valuable initial breakthrough and bravely batted with a runner after injuring his ankle in the final throws of the Bentley innings.
