Vs Botany Bay

A. Underwood – Thrown in as an emergency opener and did a great job to get the innings off to a steady and solid start. Just as he looked ready to kick on he played a rare poor shot to snick behind. Kept wicket for part of the innings and did very well.

M. Cox – Another asked to perform the unfamiliar role of opener. Looked slightly fazed and disaster struck when stumped. Fielded like a machine as usual.

Leigh – Captained with a unique style to keep the dressing room on its toes. Didn’t enjoy great luck with the bat, but did snaffle a wicket when the pinks needed it most.

Alfieri – A rushed preparation for batting took its toll, but really turned it on in the field with a stunning direct hit run out and a nice catch.

S. Shewring – Repaid the Captain’s faith by playing him as a batsman and completed his second fifty for the club with an exhibition of clean hitting. Even managed a caught and bowled in an all round super display.

Downing – Recorded his 4th fifty of the year with a patient knock playing second fiddle to the clean hitters. Played some nice strokes, but did cash in a couple of lives early on.

Sindrey – Showed his new found batting skills off to full effect again to briskly register vital runs to the total. Unfortunate to fall just short of his fifty. Bowled fast and accurately, but didn’t manage to blast the pinks to victory.

N. Shewring – Added quick runs late on and then went on to bowl a great 10 over set. Took a perfect spin bowlers dismissal by finding the edge, but couldn’t find a way to multiple wickets.

Tilley – The Lincoln Road crowd were very unhappy not to see their hero bat, but he more than put on a show in the field by keeping wicket well and then bowling 2 very smart overs.

Rose – Bowled a couple of good little spells and deservedly ended up with a brace of wickets. May only now need a couple more wickets to be confirmed in the seasons top 4 wicket takers.

Shuttlewood – Seemed to have the yips when opening the bowling and the batsmen cashed in with valuable early runs. Probably unlucky not to get another go to make amends though when the pressure was off.
