Mi. Freeman – Batted at his best and compiled a lovely score at a match winning rate. There were some gorgeous shots mixed in with a compact defensive stroke. Hit the mark first ball went entrusted with a crucial over and snaffled a vital wicket Top work all round.
Alfieri – Didn’t look his usual self with the bat as he was feeling under the weather, but still managed to build a nice start to the Rosaneri innings.
Tyrrell – Spent time at the wicket, but runs didn’t flow as they often can. Started to open up and look threatening when disaster struck. Had plenty of action in the covers but a succession of half chances didn’t stick.
Jones – Constructed a patient innings at a time of accurate bowling and good fielding. Bowled an interesting cameo spell that lurched from horrible to brilliant and back again which peaked with the trophy wicket of Billson.
Akyuz – Given out lbw yet again, but did add valuable runs before the finger went up. The wicket keeping was top drawer as usual and has now secured 7 dismissals in 3 games. Caught Akyuz, Bowled Sindrey will live in all RCC fans memories for a long time to come.
Levett – A few generous swigs of a Maltese liqueur seemed to settle the nerves and assist a great little innings. Fielded with massive enthusiasm and saw loads of ball.
Rose – Batted nicely, but time wasn’t on his side to build an innings. Also bowled a nice little opening spell to return home with a nice set of figures.
G. Cox – Not his day with the bat on a stage that could have suited his style. Bowled in 3 spells and gave everything to the cause. Picked up a wicket and bowled two vital maidens, but his highlight of the day was a superb catch in the deep to snaffle the oppo’s leading man.
Downing – Experimented with a new style of captaincy for the club by letting the players make their own informed choices and it very nearly paid off. Bowled very well to limit runs and take wickets when they were most needed.
Sindrey – Bowled brilliantly to test every batsman with literally every single ball he bowled. One of the club’s all time best performances. The cherry on the cake was a sharp catch at short gully.
Shuttlewood – Added runs at the end with Paul, and took a nice catch at leg gully. The radar took a while to warm up when bowling but a great last over in his first spell did enough to get him the ball back for the most important over of the match at the end. Took a wicket in that dramatic over to get Rosaneri within touching distance of a famous victory.
