Tough work

Tyrrell – Did very well behind the stumps which had the highlight of a very sharp catch down the leg side. Got a virtually unplayable ball to record a duck with the bat though.

Mi. Freeman – Bowled a nice little spell at a time when his captain needed it. Batted with grit and style to add valuable early runs against high class bowling.

Leigh – Had plenty to do in the field and did it well. Played a nice innings that mixed power with elegance, but didn’t go on to make a big score.

A. Underwood – His massive fan club were pumped up for the Bloaters innings, but they were left hugely disappointed as it was all over very quickly.

M. Cox – Fielded with a never say die attitude and then treated the large crowd to a classic display of batting skills. By defending the good ball and hitting the bad he recorded a seasons best.

Rose – Bowled very well against top batsmen and deservedly picked up the reward of a wicket. The batting looked never looked settled against good bowling.

Tona – Captained very well in difficult circumstances but managed to mix our bowling resources up to actually give a strong Enfield team patches of trouble in their innings. Was only removed while batting by a superb slip catch.

Downing – Bowled an excellent line and length to pick up a brace of wickets and probably bowled better than the raw data would suggest. Batted nicely until playing the wrong shot to a straight ball.

Ma. Freeman – Didn’t bowl badly, but quality batsmen punished anything slightly wide of the stumps. It is almost now expected that Mat will not get out and he will score runs, and he certainly didn’t disappoint. A personal best of 38 edged him agonisingly close to that maiden 50.

S. Underwood – Bowled good and bad in a spell from either end and ended up with a couple of wickets. The batting is best left unmentioned.

Mitchell – Nowhere near his best with the ball, but still managed to pick up multiple wickets. Pulled a hamstring while bowling and batted with a runner to smash vital runs of pride for the pinks at the end.
