The pre match preparation was thrown into chaos with a late withdrawal on Sunday morning, and Rosaneri had to go into battle with 10 players.
The wicket was the most bowler friendly wicket we have played on since the battle of Mayfield and when Big Mike went with the very first ball of the game we knew we were in trouble.
Slaps soon followed, but Tony and Bloater played with great determination and skill to add valuable runs for the 3rd wicket. Tony in particular got a battering from the quick bowlers who showed no signs of mercy.
We were in the centre of a battle when a steady fall off wickets meant that the Pinks were looking a potential sub 100 score with 5 down for less than 60.
At this point the stage was set for another hero, and boy did he step forward.
Sinders had failed a pre match bowling fitness test and could only play as a batsman. He played the classic innings rescuing knock by defending the good balls and punishing the bad balls. A good partnership with Jim put Rosaneri in a reasonable position before Mat continued the good work to propel Rosaneri to a very good declaration position.
Paul went on to record his maiden 50 with a series of wonderful strokes including a mighty six into the car park.
Captain Underwood knew he had a good number of runs to play with, but the home team innings got off to flying start and 30 had been registered with 4 overs.
Tony then pouched a great catch to spark the charge that ultimately won the game. The real crucial wicket was the daddy batsman who had scored at a brisk rate before Mat took a superb chance that literally fizzed into his hands.
The middle order and tail offered little resistance to an all out leg spin assault from Nick and Slaps. Nick recorded his best ever figures and indeed his first ever 5 fer. Slaps picked up another 4 fer as the home side were rolled over for just over a 100.
Nick and Slaps must take a bow for their superb figures, but the ease at which we bowled them out within 26 overs makes our batting effort look even more heroic.
This was a great team effort and a superb backs to the wall win for Rosaneri.
