This game may have ended in defeat, but it was a result that Rosaneri can be very proud of.
Holtwhites Tribinis were very strong opponents and the pink bowling attack did brilliantly well to restrict and dismiss them for 218. The fielding was very good and Kurt Akyuz behind the stumps was a sensation by taking two catches and a stumping.
Gareth and Mat opened the bowling and set a high standard to put Rosaneri on tracks. Nick and Jim made valuable top order breakthroughs and Slaps and Pits rattled through the tail to leave the game perfectly balanced at tea.
The Rosaneri reply got off to a good start even though Mr Bell departed uncharacteristically early. Big Mike looked in great touch and played some super strokes in an innings that unluckily ended at the point of his first micro mistake.
Tony and Adam stabilised the innings following two quick wickets and built a nice partnership to frustrate the wicket hungry home bowlers. The run rate slowed to pedestrian though in the face of accurate quality bowling and the pinks assault on the chase fell well behind schedule.
With 8 wickets in hand and a solid platform in position the skipper ordered heroics and risks to go after the win. Wickets tumbled, but progress was made and eventually Gareth and Mat came together needing 12 an over. Big shots smashed into the fences and a 50+ partnership got Rosaneri fans pulses racing before Gareth fell courageously and the game was up.
Ok we lost, but sometimes losing can feel nearly as good as winning. Well done to all involved, particularly Captain Shuttlewood who balanced everything very fairly.
