Vs St Margaretsbury

Sunday saw Rosaneri slump to the poorest performance since the woeful effort against the Harlow Vets in 2008.

Mat won the toss and elected to bat, but within 4 overs the pinks were reduced to a crumbling wreck. The opening attack was skilled and measured with every ball making the batsman think. Jim and Mike both snicked to the keeper and Shell’s patience snapped as he skied one to mid off. 0 for 3 and Rosaneri were facing total humiliation.

Adam Jones and Ben Underwood got their heads down and carefully began to rebuild after the early destruction. The runs steadily built even if there were a few scares along the way. Ben eventually departed and Mat Freeman carried on the good work until a suicidal run from the skipper knocked the comeback totally off track.

Bonehead also played a nice cameo and Adam went on to reach one of the most crucial half centuries for the club ever. It was a Herculean effort from Jones in the face of very good opponents under enormous pressure.

Somehow Rosaneri managed to post 105 to give fragile hopes of being able to compete.

Marcus got the early breakthrough and literally for an over there was hope. But that was as good as it was to get and although two more wickets were bagged the game was up a long way before the 30th over was bowled.

There were a couple of dropped routine catches and it must be noted that Mat Freeman bowled superbly. His dual with the talented number 3 was a joy to behold.

In summary, this was poor collectively from the Pinks with everyone way underperforming apart from the defiant Adam Jones. We certainly need some bounce back ability for this Sunday.
