Vs Lindsell

The man of the match votes for the contest against Lindsell have been counted and 3 players received nominations.

They were Jimmy Mitchell for another spell of accurate and tight bowling, Mike Freeman for his superb fielding and a first 50 for the club, and Stephen Underwood for taking 3wickets out of the 4 that fell.

One man polled 5 of the 9 votes cast and that man was Big Mike Freeman.

Below is a sample of the votes cast:

Mike Freeman, sharp in the field and for recoding his best score with the bat since age of 11. Took the post match criticism on the chin, and will have learned a lot from this game.

Whilst I understand the controversy of my vote, and agree Mike should have done more to win the game as we had wickets in hand, he was outstanding with the bat, scoring an excellent 65, but we shouldn’t forget he was also brilliant in the field, with some acrobatic saves that would have definitely cost us runs.

Like Augustus and Churchill, Big Mike's decline to senility was a tragic reminder of the glory of his youth. However painful to watch, the last 15 of his runs shouldn't overshadow the preceding 50. Best batting of the day by far.
