Minutes of club meeting

Monday night’s club meeting was well attended and things really are heading in the right direction.

Minutes of meeting held on the 16th of April 2007.

Those present: Jim, Nick, Mat, Gbell, Bones, and Steve.

Apologies: Pits

Fixtures:

Agreed that we are progressing the list well, and we have the ideal amount at present. The fixture list has the capacity to be expanded if things go well.

Jim will attempt to complete the full list as soon as possible.

Equipment:

We still need, scorebook, pencils, sharpener, pencil case, wicket keeping pads, 2 more boxes, and a medical kit. (Pits will complete the list except medical kit, which will be supplied by Bloater)

Selection:

The selection committee of Nick, Bones and Bloater will select the final team for each game. The regular committed 11 of Jim, Nick, Marcus, Tony, Pits, Steve, Mat, Bloater, Gbell, Coxy and Bones will automatically be selected if available.

The remainder of the team, if any of the above are unavailable, will be chosen from the ad hocs.

Availability:

Bones will send out emails on a game by game basis well in advance. He will also send a known non availability sheet for the whole season, so that we know when we may have a problem.

Expected etiquette:

Pits has drawn up an expected etiquette guide which can be viewed by clicking the links below. This guide has been prepared mainly to give those players with limited cricket experience a definitive guide to the kind of behaviour our opponents are likely to expect (and hopefully will display themselves). However, all players representing the club should take the time to read these documents as we are all expected to abide by the content. Remember - acceptable behaviour for sunday morning football is far removed from acceptable behaviour on a cricket pitch.

Preface to the Code of Conduct

Spirit of Cricket - Expected Behaviour

A good example is the disputed dismissal of G Bell in the Cotswolds last year. Under these circumstances Rosaneri players are expected to assist the umpires (who are not likely to be experienced) and walk if they know they are out - even if it means a frustrating end to your innings.

IT IS NOT ANTICIPATED THAT ANY DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES WILL NEED TO BE IMPLEMENTED AS IT IS SINCERELY HOPED THAT COMMON SENSE WILL PREVAIL AND PLAYERS WILL ABIDE BY THESE CODES - IF YOU DO NOT THEN YOU WILL MERELY BE EMBARRASSING YOURSELF AND LETTING BOTH YOUR TEAM MATES AND THE CLUB DOWN. OPPONENTS ARE NOT LIKELY TO INVITE US BACK IF WE DO NOT BEHAVE IN THE EXPECTED MANNER.

Website:

Nick is busy at the moment with work, but will sort out scorecards and averages as soon as possible. In the mean time, scorecards will appear in a short fix version.

All agreed that the website was brilliant.

Any other business:

Man of the match - will be voted on by every player on a scrap of paper after the game. A suitable prize will be provided by the club for each game.

Nets – Pits suggested a Sunday session at Hatfield in the short term. This was replaced by a suggestion of trying to continue 9-10pm at Hatfield for the next few weeks until the summer properly kicks in with good light and good weather. Steve will explore Winchmore Hill CC’s facilities with a view to hire. All agreed we need to continue at Hatfield in the short term even if we cannot get our preferred slot.

Match fee – It was agreed that all players would be charged £10 per game. This would dramatically increase club funds, but can be reviewed if it turns out to be too high.

Rosaneri are better prepared than this man was for The Ashes !
Unfortunately our minute taker didn't look like this !
